Uniform Day

Pretty eventful day again yesterday - but not too much to say about it.

A shopping trip for me and Caglan, and a lovely new friend, Marina, wife of a THY pilot, on the same course as Paul. After we went to a few apartments for Marina to view it was time to get in a car with a driver and go and look for balcony furniture. Easy ????  Ha Ha. Not so.

After 80kms, 3.5 hours, 6 shops and 120 Lira to the driver (never told Paul that last one - sorry Darling ! ) I finally found something within our budget that didn't look like plastic. Ok - so it is plastic, but its nice. Another fact about imported new goods in Turkey - apparently since April 2015 all new furniture is subject to 50% tax, which is why it was all so expensive. Thankfully, ours was imported in Feb, so the price was a wee bit lower. I did get about 8% off by being a bit cheeky though.

So here it is, minus the cream cushions - being delivered on Wednesday same time as the wardrobes.

Paul went "shopping" too - but his was free. A brand new uniform, flight bag and suitcase - Samsonite. He must wear the exact uniform - but it looks lovely - and he doesn't have to wear the plastic shirts and see-through polyester trousers that  were issued buy Tiger in Singapore. Apparently there's 6 shirts, 3 trousers, 2 jackets, 1 coat, a few ties, a cardigan and a scarf. Looks like we will need that wardrobe space. And for the first time ever Paul might need more wardrobe space than me !

Oh - there is a hat too - the first time he's had a hat in 9 years. It even has instructions on how it must be worn or carried.

No photos of PTP in his uniform - he refused to be photographed until his first flight - so you'll have to wait until mid September for that.
