Exploring Yesilkoy

I'm keeping this one short as the Yarnies are hitting the town in Yesilkoy tonight in advance of my birthday tomorrow. I've promised no iPhones at the table !!! And no blogging when we get home.

After speaking to several people at home today - Ffion, Sally and Mam and Dad - we are feeling pretty well connected again. Its been great to have a conversation with someone other than each other - no offence Paul !!!

What I never mentioned last night was the end of the night drama. When we eventually got back from our epic fail of a bus route I went in the shower only to hear Paul ask "Where is my iPad?". Ummmmmm  ....... it would be in the footwell of the hire car Darling ! Poor guy took a taxi back up to the airport - but it was nowhere to be found.. "All cleaned out" as the hire car guy told Paul. Pretty miserable for him as it has a load of info on it that was important. We've phoned several times (they keep hanging up !!!) but it looks like its gone. All erased though, and the tracker is on - we hope. Technology is amazing.

Anyway, Google told us that the nearest Apple dealer was in Yesilkoy (our new home town). So off we trotted and bought an new (used) iPad for an extremely good price.

Other things we achieved in Yesilkoy :

(1) - Found a superb (posh) fish restaurant near the beach - reminded us of the one at Footdee in Aberdeen - Silver Darling ??? So thats one for the celebration bank.

(2) Realised that Yesilkoy doesn't have one beach - it has THREE. Not at all touristy, lots of families, and about a mile of a decent walk along the prom. Reminded us very much of a good old UK beach before they got overtaken with beachside hotels. Looking forward to spending time on these. Check out the water boiler near the drinks stall as well - cups of tea always on hand !

(3) Yesilkoy also has its own Marina - not as upmarket as Atakoy, but much nicer, more friendly, and not fenced off to Joe Public

(4) We are starting to see people we know who greet us in the street - the owner of our apartment, the 1st Emlak (estate agent) we met - avoided him, and the guy we bought the iPad off. Its like my home town of Tredegar ! Before long I'll be saying "Hiya Butt" to every other person !

Finally we got back to the apartment and look what awaited us ! Its only taken 6 days !!!!

So - its back off to Yesilkoy to go back to the restaurant we had lunch at on Wednesday (Bishops) for more of that 20 GBP wine ! Paul has just tole me his jeans are fitting far better after a week - so the semi-detox is working. Time for a night off !!!!
